A PIL was filed in the Madras High Court on Wednesday, seeking to restrain the BCCI from conducting the 11th edition of Indian Premier League in the absence of adequate measures to prevent match-fixing and betting.

When the petition by IPS officer G Sampathkumar came up, the First Bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice A Selvam ordered notice to the Union home ministry and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
It then posted the matter for further hearing to April 13.
The bench orally observed that though the apprehensions of the petitioner were bona fide, how the game could be stalled just because there was a possibility of match-fixing and other offences.
To this, the petitioner said the intention was not to stall the game and agreed to amend the prayer accordingly.
Noting that it cannot be denied that such offences were still in existence, the bench said it was not sure what preventive measures can be brought in to check them.
"We have many laws to prevent corruption including the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, but can we say that corruption does not exist in society," it wondered.

The petitioner said as an investigating officer from Chennai, he was instrumental in exposing 2013 spot-fixing and betting in IPL matches.
"Contrary to the Lodha Committee report, vested interests still continue to be protected in the IPL and the questions of conflict of interest remain unaddressed by BCCI," he alleged.
This apart, he claimed the cricket board does not have any system of accountability in the performance of its anti-corruption unit and does not have a database of earnings of its players nor about bookies, fixers and kingpins of illegal betting.
In 2015, a panel appointed by the Supreme Court suspended Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals after finding them guilty in an illegal betting and match-fixing probe. Both franchises are back this season after serving the two-year ban.

IPL के 11वें सीजन में भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड को लगभग 2017 करोड़ का प्रॉफिट होगा। प्रोजेक्शनरिपोर्ट के मुताबिकबीसीसीआई को मिलने वाले सरप्लस का 95 प्रतिशित हिस्सा तो सिर्फ IPL से ही आ जाएगा। क्रिकेट का ये धुआंधार फॉर्मेट क्रिकेट फैन्स में कितना लोकप्रिय है इसका अंदाजा इसी बात से लगाया जा सकता है।

आईपीएल में टीमें प्लेयर्स को ऑक्शन में खरीदने से लेकर उनके ठहरने, ट्रेवलिंग, सपोर्ट स्टाफ जैसी तमाम चीजों पर करोड़ो खर्च करती हैं । पर क्या आपने सोचा है कि करोड़ो रुपए खर्च करने वालीं ये फ्रेंचाइजी कैसे कमाई करती हैं? अगर नहीं तो जानिए कैसे होता है ये।

- किसी भी टीम की कमाई में स्पॉन्सर्स मेन सोर्स में से एक होते हैं। मैच में बाउंड्री रोप और वहां मौजूद बैरीकेड्स से लेकर प्लेयर्स की जर्सी, हेल्मेट, बैट, कैप्स, पैड, शूज हर चीज के स्पॉन्सर होते हैं जो अपनी पब्लिसिटी के लिए टीमों को करोड़ो रुपए चुकाते हैं। टीम को सबसे ज्यादा पैसा उन स्पॉन्सर्स से मिलता है जिनका नाम टीम जर्सी में सामने चेस्ट और बैक की ओर होता है। इसके अलावा स्पॉन्सर्स टीम के ऐड में भी नजर आते हैं।
- हर सीजन के लिए टीमों और स्पॉन्सर्स में डील होती है। इससे टीमों की कुल कमाई का 20 से 30 पर्सेंट यहीं से पूरा होता है।
मैच के मीडिया राइट्स से भी टीमों की कमाई होती है। टीमों को ये पैसा बीसीसीआई देता है। बीसीसीआई ब्रॉडकास्टिंग के मीडिया राइट्स चैनल्स को बेचता है और इससे होने वाली कमाई का हिस्सा टीमों में एग्रीमेंट के तहत बांटता है। बीसीसीआई इसमें टीमों को उनकी रैंकिंग के हिसाब से प्रॉफिट शेयर करती है। यानी फाइनल्स तक पहुंचने वाली टीमों को सबसे ज्यादा पैसा मिलता है। इससे टीमों की कुल कमाई का लगभग 60 पर्सेंट हिस्सा इसी से पूरा होता है। वर्तमान में आईपीएल के ब्रॉडकास्टिंग राइट्स स्टार इंडिया के पास  हैं। इसके लिए स्टार बीसीसीआई को अगले 5 सीजन के लिए 16437 करोड़ रुपए देगा।

टिकट सेल से टीमों को 10 से 15 पर्सेंट की कमाई होती है। जिस टीम के जितने ज्यादा फैन-फॉलोआर्स होते हैं उसे उतना ज्यादा फायदा होता है। ज्यादा फैन यानी ज्यादा टिकट की बिक्री। आमतौर पर टिकट्स की कीमत 800 रु से लेकर 20000 रुपए तक होती है और एक मैच में एवरेज 40 से 50 हजार दर्शक होते हैं। हालांकि फ्रेंचाइजी कुछ पैसा स्टेट एसोसिएशन को भी चुकाती हैं। साथ ही टिकट की कीमत ग्राउंड की सिटिंग कैपेसिटी और किसी शहर में मैच हो रहा है इसपर भी निर्भर करती है।

कमाई में ब्रांड वेल्यू का भी अहम रोल है। अगर टीम में अच्छी ब्रांड वेल्यू वाले प्लेयर्स हैं तो टीम को ज्यादा कमाई के मौके मिलेंगे। उदाहरण के तौर पर, अगर टीम में एमएस धोनी, विराट कोहली, एबी डिवलियर्स, गौतम गंभीर जैसे प्लेयर्स हैं तो टीम को और ज्यादा इन्वेस्टर्स और ब्रांड मिलेंगे। इसके अलावा अगर टीम को सपोर्ट करने शाहरुख खान, प्रिटी जिंटा या बिजनेस स्टार्स जैसे नीता अंबानी, केशव बंसल आते हैं, तो भी टीमों की व्यूअरशिप और कमाई बढ़ती है। इससे टीम की इनकम में 5 से 10 पर्सेंट का फायदा होता है।
आईपीएल में विनर टीम के लिए इस बार प्राइज मनी 26 करोड़ रुपए है। हालांकि, इतनी प्राइज मनी बड़ी टीमों के लिए कुछ भी नहीं हैं जो एक प्लेयर को खरीदने के लिए 10 से 15 करोड़ खर्च कर देती हैं।

 Alex Hales England explosion opener has been picked by SRH as replacement for David Warner.

Base price 1crore from the registered and available player pool (Rapp) list, a BCCI release stated on saturday (March 31).

Hales is the only Englishman to feature in the top 10 list of the ICC T20 ranking.
Earlier played for Mumbai Indians in 2015 edition.

Warner's loss will be a massive void to fill for the franchise given that the Australian opener had been a vital log in SRH's fortunes over the year. Warner led SRH to title glory in 2016.
